PROGRESSIVES e-GROUP CONDEMNS DESTRUCTION OF BILLBOARDS AND POSTERS OF OYETOLA IN IWO, CALLS FOR CIVIL APPROACH AS GUBER ELECTION DRAWS NEARER.
Progressives e-Group (the number one online media platform in the State of Osun) condemns in strong terms irrational behaviour of some miscreants and supporters of opposition party in Iwo which led to destruction of billboards and posters of All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer in the state of Osun – Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola in the ancient progressive city.
We see this ugly development as a primitive act that should not be welcomed in a state like Osun that is generally known as land of virtues and reference point for good character. The forthcoming governorship election should be seen as festival of open contest and celebration of citizens ultimate power to elect their leaders. Any attempt to make it otherwise shall not only be resisted through every available legal means but also dealt with accordingly in order to serve as deterrent to others.
We are using this opportunity to alert security agents to watch out for these hoodlums as on our part we are ready for a peaceful election.
The miscreants intend to coerce us into violence, but we will not be be coerced.
Osun will be calm before, during and after this election because we have no other state to run to.
Opposition leaders and supporters must stop destroying our posters in the interest of peace. They should know that nobody has monopoly of violence.
Also, we urge all governorship candidates who see 22nd of this month gubernatorial election as do or die affairs to have a rethink and caution their supporters that Osun is not ready to go back to the past years of crisis, violence and trepidation.
On a final note, we call on security agencies to investigate this dastardly act, bring the perpetrators to book and be vigilant henceforth as election is exactly 3 weeks away. Osun A dara oo.
