OYETOLA URGES NYSC MEMBERS TO PROMOTE NATIONAL INTEGRATION.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun on Tuesday urged corps members deployed to the state to serve with integrity and foster national integration, peace and unity which are the ethos of the laudable scheme.
The governor gave the charge while delivering his goodwill message at the terminal parade which marks the end of the three-week orientation programme for the 2019 Batch ‘A’ corps members deployed in the state.
Governor Oyetola enjoined them to be good ambassadors of Nigeria by effecting change in their places of primary assignment, and deliver diligently on the mandate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
Mr. Oyetola said his administration remains committed to the welfare and general well-being of the prospective corps members serving in the state.
The State Helmsman who described NYSC as a symbol of unity, said it had become incumbent on corps members to take the advantage of their service year to strengthen ‘Nigeria’s unity in diversity’.
He admonished the corps members not to cut short the expectations of the people by influencing their postings for selfish gains.
The Governor implored the corps members to translate the skills acquired in the course of their three weeks orientation exercise to bring development and impact positively in the lives of the people of their host communities.
“I have been rightly informed that your postings were done in line with the approved posting policy and according to the felt needs of the state.
“Do not be hasty to change this but rather, embrace your posting and be a blessing to the people you have been sent to.
“I enjoin you to accept your postings to the different local governments in good faith, do not cut short the expectations of the good people of the state by trying to influence your postings to the urban cities alone.
“The people of the state both in the urban and rural areas await your coming and unconditional acceptance of them and their ways of life.
“Do not deny these people access to your expertise. “Reports of your comportment, dedication and wholesome commitment to your duties on camp have reached me and I am indeed proud of you all.
“The people of the State have been fully enlightened that the set of corps members coming to them are the best of the best.
“Our administration is committed to your welfare and security in the state and do not be afraid to interact and integrate with the people of your host community as our people, especially the traditional rulers, security chiefs and corps employers have been duly informed of your coming and are well prepared to receive you.
“Take your health seriously. Health they say is wealth. Do not take your health for granted; always seek help at the right time Avail yourselves of the medical facilities put in place by the government and also those put in place by the management of the scheme in the State”, Oyetola stressed.
The NYSC state Coordinator, Mr Emmanuel Attah, admonished the corps members to shun all forms of indiscipline, corrupt practices, partisan politics, religious extremism, unauthorised journey and disrespect for the socio-cultural values of their host communities.
He said: “Ensure that you follow the right channel of communication in everything you do. The uniform you are putting on is not an immunity to commit crime but to serve your nation diligently.
“It is your time to prove yourselves worthy of the oath of allegiance which you swore to before God and man.”
Earlier in his farewell address, the State Coordinator of the NYSC,, Mr. Emmanuel Danjuma Attah enjoined the Corp members to be good ambassadors wherever they are posted to.
Mr. Attah who appreciated the efforts of Governor Oyetola for prompt payment of workers’ full salaries, Rehabilitation of roads across the state, rejuvenation of all the 332 Primary Health Care Centres and other monumental strides recorded within the first quarter of assumption of office.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation to Governor Gboyega Oyetola a medal of appreciation for his unprecedented fatherly role and immeasurable supports magnanimously extended to Osun NYSC.
Awards were also presented to outstanding and Corp members and instructors during the epochal event.
