Non Governmental Organizations are independent bodies or organizations responsible to compliment Government Policies thereby working towards the development of the Nation.
Domestic Violence is an act of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence ” that may be committed by a family member or intimate partner. It is a contemporary issue not limited to a particular continent rather it’s a phenomenon.
Domestic Violence has claimed many lives as a result of continuous act towards the victim who failed to speak out.
HOW TO AVOID DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
(1)The moment you notice the act, speak out before it boomerangs
(2)If possible, relocate before the matter degenerates
(3)Report the perpetrator on time
(4)Avoid people who do not allow you speak your mind
(5)Don’t make trouble
THE ROLE OF NGOs IN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
(1)Sensitization of the danger of domestic violence within and outside our community will help in curbing domestic violence.
(2)Giving support to women and children because they are vulnerable to domestic violence
(3)Dissemination of information on the penalty for domestic violence perpetrator through various means especially the method focused to the grassroot
(4)Empowerment Programmes- The government cannot do everything so as Non governmental Organizations our aim should be to compliment, eradicate poverty or reduce it in our immediate surroundings because some of the domestic violence issues are caused by not meeting the family needs or transfer of aggression as a result of lack. It’s a bad thing to lack.
(5)Collaboration of NGOs and International Organization for scholarship to reduce the cost of their children’s education.
(6)The Non Governmental Organizations programmes must aim at providing justice to the victim of domestic violence and ensure perpetrators serve as the deterrent to others.
(7)The NGOs should serve as support system to victims of domestic violence to render variety of services, its impact analysis is also required to be investigated to ensure improvement and better roles being played by the NGOs
(8)There should be a kind of synergy between the government and the NGOs in order to eradicate domestic violence in our nation.
