As far back as October 2017, shortly after Ademola Adeleke emerged as Senator to replace his Late brother at the Red Chambers as the representative of Osun West Senatorial district, the Intelligence unit of the NPF Alagbon Lagos State got wind of pronounced intention of fraud, forgery and falsification of results from two of Adeleke kinsmen through the social media. Their sole agitation back then on Facebook was that, they are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Ademola Adeleke doesn’t posses the needed requisite academically to stand for election as evidences available at their disposal indicated that the photocopies of certificates he tendered for the senatorial election were fake.
An investigative police officer with background training in forensic analysis & intelligence gathering was assigned to uncover the truth about the certificate assumptions. This officer relocated to Osun, got all the necessary documents relevant to the case from INEC, Ede Muslim Govt. High School (Previously known as Ede Muslim Grammar School), and other quarters that could assist in unraveling the mystery including oral testimonies from relatives, associates & staffs of the secondary school. More importantly, the police lay hold on a copy of Nomination (Senatorial) form C.F 001 submitted to INEC with attachments of necessary documents (Photocopies of Tax clearance certificate, Voter’s card, letter of attestation, testimonial etc)
Of note, it was discovered that the testimonial attached as claimed, was said to have been collected by the bearer (Ademola Adeleke) and issued on 20th day of July, 1988 under the letter headed paper of *Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede Osun State of Nigeria.* (This to the Police raise suspicion of False Declaration as Osun State came into existence in 1991) On the same testimonial, it was recorded that he wrote WASCE and at the latter part of the document, it was conspicuously written that the examination was SSCE. (WASCE and SSCE were of different generation of Students) From Intelligence report, information gathered and document collected from the school by the assigned Police officer, it was confirmed that Ademola Adeleke was admitted in 1976 but all available evidences including school enrollment/record/register showed he stopped his secondary school education in 1980. From the register, Adekeke wasn’t the only drop out in his 1976 set, reasons were adduced why others left school as against their names but nothing was written against Adeleke’s name, as it was left blank, meaning he absconded without true notification to the school. The statement of result tendered by Adeleke to INEC was issued on a letter headed paper, with scores allocated for each subjects he sat for. F9 in English Language, X as scores and remarks with PENDING for other Subjects.
One Mr. Khalid, the school principal of Ede Muslim High School was invited in the course of investigation where he made a confessional extra – judicial statement in Year 2017. He asserted that He nor any of the School representative issued a statement of result with the school letter headed paper to Senator Adeleke, as the one issued to him was without a school letter head but was duly stamped with the inscription bearing the name of the school. On the correspondences exchanged between the Nigerian Police and WAEC, it was discovered that Adeleke actually scored F9 in English Language and other subjects scores recorded as X. Further inquiry revealed that X stands for Absent, as such WAEC didn’t communicate any pending result to the school. So the question left unanswered was why did Adeleke deceive the public with Pending, and from where did his pending results in other subjects emanate from?
Investigation was concluded in August 2018, and an order for the arrest of Senator Ademola Adeleke was issued, but because of the Osun governorship election slated for September 22nd 2018, a presidential directive was issued not to effect the arrest as it will be merely perceived as political persecution from the political class especially the opposite Unfortunately, with the connivance of senior police officers who are presently facing disciplinary action, the case file of Ademola Adeleke went missing after the guber election. Not until recently when the Inspector General of Police received a petition against Adeleke accompanied with the judgment of an FCT Bwari Court Abuja affirming the police earlier stance on Forgery, the case file resurfaced and the conviction of the Nigerian Police now reinvigorated to pursue the criminal case of established forgery against Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke to a logical conclusion”
Earlier on Friday last week where the same Ademola Adeleke was facing another charge for Examination Malpractice in Federal High Court 6, Abuja over his involvement in the NECO 2017 examination at Ojo Aro Community School where the court had ordered the seizure of his international passport but was consequently ordered by the Judge to be released after a tense argument and debate by both prosecuting and defense counsels, as Adeleke claimed he’s a Prostrate Cancer patient who must receive urgent medical attention in USA with a caveat that he must report himself to the police on Monday 6th May 2019. Immediately, an appeal was filed against the ruling of the judge ordering the release of his International Passport and a stay of execution for the same purpose sought from the Appeal court which was expressly granted. In the face of the law, status quo should be maintained until determination of the appeal.
Since it is only the Police that has the constitutional power to arrest, detain, arraign and prosecute, the police in exercising such powers have presented a charge sheet of all the accusations and offences leveled against Ademola Adeleke, and he’s due to appear before a court of competent jurisdiction on Tuesday 7th May, 2019
