A call has gone to members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State in particular and the entire citizenry in general to disregard manufactured media publications by some suspected Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leaders and apologists whose intention is to portray the APC as a non-law-abiding entity.
The state Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who made this statement in Osogbo on Thursday said it was necessary to make the clarification as the sinking state PDP has been looking for straws to clinch to in the ongoing legal battle for the state governorship seat.
The party chairman said the PDP agents of the devil who have been reeling out cooked-up stories that the APC leadership has been giving an assurance that the Supreme Court Justices have being settled should be disregarded as they merely contain the figment of imagination of the hatchet writers.
To the royal-blooded state APC chairman, the content of the story in question was a product of irresponsible journalism and propaganda taken too far with a view to threatening the nation’s jealously-guided two decade- old democratic experience.
“It is unfathomable that a writer or a group of disgruntled elements all in the name of playing politics will just wake up from the wrong side of their beds and begin to manufacture negative stories against their political opponents?”, he questioned rhetorically.
Famodun disclosed that the APC believes in the rule of law and never will it undermine same to fight for its right.
He said, his party would never do anything untowards to influence the decision of the Supreme Court in the ongoing legal battle for the governorship seat in the state.
The state party chairman who accused the writers of the story of been trying to be clever by half added that they only grossly succeeded in displaying their ignorance and lack of decency and finesse in media warfare.
He said, the APC still believes in the divine power of God Almighty that has been fighting the ongoing governorship legal battle for the party, adding that “God is not interested in sharing the credit of His blessings with any other entity”.
In Famodun’s words: “We, in the APC, don’t believe in cutting corner to fight for our right. In fact, it is not in our character to do that whether now or in the nearest future.
“For the fact that our party, the APC, controls the centre cannot be a pasport for us to engage in illegality in pursuit of our right.
“The reason for using media strategem by the suspected PDP hatchet writers on the ongoing governorship issue is to justify and prepare a soft-landing for their imminent defeat at the Supreme Court. The contextual meaning and implication of the essay elucidates and exposes the fact that it is the stock in trade of the PDP to influence judicial decision(s) whenever a case is in its favour.
“It’s too late in the day for us in the APC to now aquire a negative attribute unknown to the founding fathers of the party”, he explained.
It would be recalled that an online publication recently published a story that went viral, saying that an Osun APC delegation went to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his Abuja residence, telling him to intervene in the governorship case currently at the Supreme Court with a view to teleguiding the Justices to give their verdict in favour of the APC.
Famodun disclosed that there was no iota of truth in the cooked up story which intention is to discredit the APC and lower the professional reputation and integrity of the revered justices of the Supreme Court.
