Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, has expressed gratitude to all the members, chieftains of the party and admirers of Chief Bisi Akande who thronged Ila-orangun country-home of the former Osun State governor to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-fitri with him yesterday.
In a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Mr Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo this morning, Famodun who said, he was particularly impressed with the turnout of the party members and supporters at the annual event disclosed that it was an indication that the party adherents still appreciate the good deeds of their leaders whether in or out of office.
The APC state chairman hinted that it was not an overstatement to state that the population of the ancient town of Ila-orangun swelled in folds with the admirers of the political legend who flooded the town in droves.
He said, his only prayer is for Almighty God to elongate the life of Chief Akande to enable him celebrate more of the religious festivals on earth.
Famodun, an Igbajo-born prince, observed that the continuous existence of Pa Akande is not only a blessing to Ila-orangun, his place of birth, but a delight to Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The APC chieftain enjoined both serving and upcoming politicians to learn a lesson from the life of Chief Akande that the blessing in serving the people conscientiously without blemish is limitless.
Famodun counselled that prioritization of personal interest and gain by politicians is a direct invitation to perfidy.
He asked rhethorically if the younger elements in politics were not motivated by the continuous soaring popularity and influence of Pa Akande, telling them that the antidote is to run an open-door policy each time opportunity beckons on one to serve the people.
Former state Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy, Otunba(Mrs) Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori; current deputy governor, Mr Gboyega Alabi; the Akinrun of Ikirun; former state APC chairman, Elder Lowo Adebiyi; Dr Ajibola Bashir, the Senator-elect for Osun Central were among the dignitaries that graced the Eid-el-fitri celebration in Ila-orangun.
There was also a fair representation of the local government council chairmen across the state and the APC executive in the state.
