The House of Representatives member-elect for Ijesa South Federal Constituency of Osun State, Honourable Lawrence Ayeni, has congratulated the newly-sworn in Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, on his accomlished mission of the leadeship of the legislative institution.
Ayeni who was a two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly enjoined the speaker not to be bossy in the discharge of his constitutional role as the Speaker.
He advised him to see himself as first among equals in the interest of the smooth-running of the House.
Ayeni who also extended his congratulatory message to all other 25 new members of the House disclosed that experience he gathered over the years has shown that the main cause of disharmony in the House is on pecuniary reason.
He enjoined the new Speaker to borrow a leaf from the tenure of the immediate-past Speaker, Dr Najeem Salaam, who successfully piloted the aircraft of the House for two consecutive terms.
Ayeni also charged the new Speaker to run an open-door administration in order for him to earn the confidence of the other members of the House.
The National Assembly member-elect also sues for unalloyed co-operation of the other lawmakers with the Speaker to enable them have a success story for their tenure.
He reminded them that nothing tangible can be achieved in a combative, rancorous and riotous environment.
According to Ayeni, the collective mission of the lawmakers should be how to make Osun better than the state they met it.
The federal lawmaker-elect who also said it is important for the newly-inaugurated lawmakers to work as a team hinted that it is only when they work with unity of purpose that they can become impenetrable to any disgruntled external influence which mission is to cause rancour and disharmony in the House.
