A call has gone to all members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State to emulate the good gesture of the state Governor Gboyega Oyetola to embark on extension of the frontiers of the party by winning more souls for the party especially the disenchanted members of the party who crossed over to another parties during the last APC governorship primary election.
The state chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo today, stated that it was imperative and desirable to embark on working on the former members and leaders of the party who left the party in questionable circumstances.
Famodun hinted that though politics is a fierce contest for positions, opportunities and recognition, but it would be worthwhile to seek for former political soul-mates whom prevailing circumstances had made them to temporarily seek political refuge elsewhere.
He said that the task of bringing back the hitherto annoyed members of the party should be the responsibility of all and sundry in the party as long as it is a constant truism that politics is a game of numbers.
The party chairman disclosed that just as history is being written everyday through our actions and inactions, so should the same approach be given to partisan politics.
Famodun said that though this might sound strange to some members and leaders of the APC but if political truth must be told, having more members in a political party enhances chances of entrenching political stronghold.
In his words: “The political sky is wide more than enough for all to fly. There should be no room for needless mutual suspicion of intentions. The more, the merrier is a popular saying in the political parlance.
“Even if we should decide to go biblical, I don’t see anything untoward in searching for a lost sheep out of ten. It is an exhibition of passion, love, care and brotherhood”, he counselled.
The state party chairman disclosed further that it was incumbent on the APC stakeholders to embark on an aggressive soul-wining exercise as the political space is operating in the realm of competition.
He stated further that it should be known to discerning and politically-conscious minds that the APC has become a metaphorical Iroko tree in the state which cannot be easily cut down by the major opposition party currently in disarray in the state.
