The State of Osun House of Assembly has on Wednesday 24th of June, 2020 passed State of Osun Public Procurement Law Amendment Bill 2020 into law.
The bill which will promote accountability and transparency in government transactions was passed into law after scaling through the third reading by a motion moved by the majority leader of the house, Maroof Olanrewaju and seconded by Hon Olugbenga Ogungbemi representing Ayedire state constituency.
The Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Timothy Owoeye in his remarks noted that the passed bill will pave way for judicious spending of public funds, enhance transparency and accountability in government dealings, provide legal framework for contractors in their transactions with the state, promote government open policies, enhance due process in purchasing and supplying within government circles etc.
The lawmakers in their various submissions said the passage of the bill and it impact cannot be overemphasized in the government day to day activities adding that it will allow authorities to carry out oversight functions effectively.
Hon Timothy Owoeye however appreciated his colleagues for their steadfastness in the process of passing the bill.
The passed bill is expected to be signed into law any moment from now by the State Governor Mr. Gboyega Oyetola.
