The APC Youth Progressive Group in the state of Osun has alleged that the purported acceptance letter by the elders’ council of All Progressives Congress, Igbimo-Agba Osun was never issued by the body.
This allegation was contained in a statement by the coordinator of the group, Comrade Yemi Adaranijo, a copy that was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital.
The group alleged that the letter was written by an aide to the governor, one Kola Olabisi, on behalf of Igbimo Agba Osun directed by the Governor through APC caretaker state chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun.
The statement reads,
“We are reliably informed that Baba Akinwumi is presently out of Osun. We went round to other Igbimo-Agba Osun members to verify whether they knew about the write-up, which they outrightly denied”
“We challenge Baba Akinwumi to come out to swear with his old age if there was any meeting before this write-up, and the one released during the 2 years and 10 years APC anniversary issue”
“We all know Baba Akinwumi’s house is not in order and he has no political value like Baba Agba Chief Bisi Akande, PA Lawal in ikirun, Baba Odeyemi(the boy) in Ilesha, etc”
“We all knew the antecedent of this Baba Akinwumi, he was in AD for long after the formation of ACN before he came to join us in the Party shortly before the Appeal Court restored Ogbeni Aregbesola’s mandate as the winner of April 2007 gubernatorial election in Osun State. Their game plan is to use their template during 2022 primary to issue a release that they have endorsed Oyetola”
“Instead of Baba Akinwumi to call other Igbimo-Agba members together and seek amicable solution before it’s too late, he continued to arrogate powers he does not have to himself”
“We will not sit down to let this Baba Akinwumi continue to destabilise our party if the caretaker State Chairman has taken a side and not in charge again because of his money demanding tactics, we the youth are the errand ones that faces many tasks of the election i.e Campaign, mobilize and guiding of our votes during the election”
“It is on record that many youths were sacrificed during the 2007 and 2011 election, If they have forgotten the families of the deceased, we will not forget”
“We urge all those behind the deliberate division within the party and government not to polarise the party before their departure, history will not forget and forgive you people, if you fail to do the needful, the statement concluded.
